What is the size restriction for Mail Boxes?

Any amount of web space is allowed for your email account provided it is lower than your hosting plan’s web space quota.

Is MySQL possible through a remote location?

Jolt does not support this feature. However, you have an option to do this if you have VPS or a dedicated server from us.

What Operating System do you use on web servers?

Jolt uses CloudLinux (CentOS-based) Operating System on our shared servers. Clients can choose and install their own Linux OS on VPS (CentOS, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, and Gentoo) and any OS including Windows Server 2008 – 2012 on dedicated servers.

What version of PHP do you use?

Jolt supports all php versions from 4.x up to 7.x. CloudLinux OS can change php version as well as php extensions and values. Apply this on the cPanel >> Select PHP Version.

What version of Apache do you use?

Jolt uses Apache 2.4.x at the time of this writing. Apache 2.4.x is used for reference since we update our software as necessary.

What version of MySQL do you use?

Jolt uses MySQL MariaDB 10.x at the time of this writing. Versions will be upgraded as needed.

Can I edit the httpd.conf file?

You can edit the httpd.conf file with root access to the server only (VPS and Dedicated servers).
Please do not edit virtual hosts since changes will not be saved and cause cPanel subdomains and addon domains to sustain errors.

Save Global Apache configuration by starting the internal cPanel ‘distiller’ script.

You can edit certain directives of Global Apache using the .htaccess file on the shared server.

Can I make my own .htaccess files?

Yes, that is possible.

I have written my own script. Is it possible to run it on your servers?

Yes it is possible if the script can be executed on a Linux server. Yet, we recommend that you contact us first if you think this will cause problems on a shared hosting server.

Do you provide Jailed Shell or Normal Shell?

CloudLinux provides Normal Shell. This does not have root, sudo or su privileges. Each account’s environment is closed which means no one can access another account hosted on the same server (feature of CageFS).

Can I use Telnet as file transfer protocol?

Jolt only utilises SSH. However, we can configure VPS/dedicated servers as you prefer.

What type of email authentication do you use?

Jolt uses the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) form of authentication. This option must be checked in the outgoing mail server (SMTP) settings of your client before you can send emails.

Do you allow CGI scripts?

Yes, we allow Common Gate Interface scripts.
